GRADUATION INFORMATION
South St. Paul's Commencement Ceremony will be held on Thursday June 12th, 2025.
- Information will be released towards the end of the school year with practice information. If you do not attend Commencement practice, you will not participate in the Commencement ceremony. You do not need your cap and gown for practice.
- Diplomas will be given only to students who have fulfilled all school responsibilities. (Be sure you have read and understand the End-of-Year Responsibilities.)
- Return all books from your classes and from the Library before graduation. All fees and fines must be paid before Graduation, i.e., device fees, library fines, book fines, parking fines, athletic fees, class fees, etc.
- At Commencement practice, each senior will receive 6 tickets for Commencement. Tickets will be required to enter if we have the commencement inside.
- If you need special consideration for seating or transportation for handicapped or senior citizen guests who will be attending Graduation, call Joleen Macioch at 651-457-9410 with your request by Thursday, June 5th.
- Participation in the Commencement ceremony is optional. You are not required to attend. However, if you do attend, the following dress codes must be followed to be part of the exercises:
MEN: Dress shirt with collar (tie recommended), dress slacks, dress socks, dress shoes, (no tennis shoes or flip flops).
WOMEN: Blouse with skirt, or slacks; or dress; shoes (no tennis shoes or flip flops).
Put your cap on well forward with the SHORT point almost between your eyebrows. Straight and level. Hair underneath. Students who do not follow the appropriate dress codes will be sent home.
Information about Sash/Stoles for graduation can be found here
- Arrive at school the night of commencement by 6:15 PM. Meet in the Competition Gym to form your lines for graduation. We will move out to the football field at 6:50 PM. We will start on time, with or without you. We will meet in the STEM Hallway if Commencement is inside.
- Students, have your parent/guardian drop you off or carpool.
- Girls, leave your purses at home!
- Flowers should be sent to your home address. There will be no supervision of bouquets or boutonnieres on Commencement night.
- Check the district’s website at sspps.org or listen to WCCO radio for any change in Commencement plans. Changes due to inclement weather will be made at 5:00 PM on June 10th.
- Participant behavior is expected to be exemplary. Please recognize the importance of this event for family members and friends. Any actions that detract from others’ enjoyment of the commencement ceremony will cause unneeded delays during the program and unnecessary delays in receiving your diploma. Students causing any disruptions will be removed from the ceremony.
- Post-Secondary Option students will not receive a diploma until a transcript of their college grades is received in the high school office.
- The Commencement Ceremony is a happy but solemn occasion and the school requests the audience to refrain from yelling or making other noises throughout the roll call of the class. Let’s respect each family’s wish to hear their son/daughter’s name being announced.
- Congratulations, receive your diploma with dignity and always represent South St. Paul High School with pride!
If you have any questions, please reach out to Joleen Macioch at jmacioch@sspps.org

ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. Don’t forget to request your final transcript through parchment.com to send to your college! Transcript requests cost $8.
If you have any questions please ask your Counselor.
2. Seniors please do the following:
- Remind your parents to check their emails and fill out the graduation information
- Last day to turn in the all night party payment and form is June 4th.
- Keep checking your emails for additional senior information
4. Your computer accounts at SSP Schools will be deactivated on or after June 13th, 2024 unless you are taking summer school classes with us. Use this checklist to prepare and backup anything critical before you leave:
A. On your Chromebook, you can create a “Vacation Responder” to inform others that your school Google email account will be deactivated on June 13, 2024 and to contact you at your personal email address (Gmail is a good option and free for you to set up on your own). This is especially helpful if you are working with colleges. Do a Google search for "Vacation Responder" for instructions.
B. Change ownership rights to those that need files/documents next year (ex. Google Docs for a school club or organization). If you don’t need the file(s) yourself, simply change owners in the Sharing settings. If you do need the file(s), please share the file(s) with those who will need them next year. The instructor or student that you share with will need to "make a copy". This will allow the new OWNER to have full access. Please talk to your club advisers or email parenttechhelp@sspps.org for assistance.
C. Log in to your Google Drive and make a backup copy of any critical files.
D. If you have a huge number of critical files, you can use Google Takeout (do a Google search for instructions) to download all of the Google data that you need in one easy process. Once signed in, you have the opportunity to choose which Google services (Drive, Photos, etc.) you wish to download. It would be best for you to access your Google account on your home or personal computer (not on a school computer), and visit Google Takeout ( takeout.google.com ) from there. You will be downloading your data to a zip file.
E. Forward important email messages to your personal email account--if you didn’t use Google Takeout.
Congratulations on your graduation and we wish you the best of luck in your future!
